Calvary Community Preschool provides a nurturing, faith-based learning environment in Longview, Washington, where children are known, loved, and encouraged to grow. As a ministry of Calvary Community Church, we believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the Bible as the inspired Word of God, and we integrate these beliefs into everything we do.
Our mission is to offer families in the Cowlitz County area a safe, joyful, and Christ-centered preschool experience where children can learn, explore, and thrive. We strive to create a classroom environment where parents feel confident entrusting their children, knowing they are cared for with love, patience, and purpose.
Our Preschool Program
Our school year runs from September through May, serving 3- and 4-year-old children in a developmentally appropriate setting. Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to balance teacher-led instruction and child-directed learning, allowing each child to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
At Calvary Community Preschool, children develop foundational skills through engaging, hands-on experiences, including:
Letter recognition and phonics (sounds)
Rhyming and early literacy skills
Pre-writing and fine motor development
Number recognition and early math concepts
Science exploration and discovery
Art, music, and creative expression
Gross motor development and active play
We also focus on building social skills and problem-solving abilities, helping children learn how to interact positively with others.
Faith-Based Learning
As a Christian preschool in Longview, WA, we intentionally incorporate faith into our daily routine. Children learn about God’s love through:
Bible stories and scripture memory
Music
Practicing kindness, respect, and compassion
Our goal is to help children understand they are loved by God while learning to love and care for others.

Carissa Jackson
Carissa Jackson is the Director of Calvary Community Preschool and brings more than 11 years of experience in education to her role. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Mathematics and Reading. Carissa taught first grade in the Kelso School District and has also served as an adjunct instructor and site supervisor in Lower Columbia College’s Bachelor of Applied Science in Teacher Education program.
Calvary Community Preschool holds a special place in Carissa’s heart. As a member of the Calvary community and a mom of three children who have attended the preschool, she values the relationships and traditions that make the school such a special place. Outside of preschool, Carissa enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, baking, gardening, reading, and serving in her church and community.

They are committed to creating a loving, Christ-centered environment where every child feels encouraged and excited to learn. We are incredibly thankful for the unique gifts, experience, and care each teacher brings to the classroom and are proud to have them as part of the Calvary Community Preschool family.

This is Monica’s second year as a lead teacher at Calvary Community Preschool. She brings a genuine passion for teaching preschoolers and is always looking for creative ways to make learning fun and engaging. Monica is married and has three daughters, and she treasures spending time with her family. When she’s not in the classroom, you’ll often find her traveling to dance competitions and cheering on her girls. She is excited for another wonderful year of learning, growing, and making memories with her students!

Brianna is beginning her second year as a teacher’s aide at Calvary Community Preschool. She enjoys working alongside our teachers and helping create an environment where children can learn, play, and grow. Brianna is married with two sons. We are thankful she is a part of the Calvary Preschool team and look forward to another wonderful school year!

Mikiah Littlefield is beginning her fifth year at Calvary Community Preschool as a lead teacher. She comes to us with 8 years of experience of teaching. She loves teaching, working with children and enjoys watching them learn, grow, and develop throughout the school year. Mikiah is married with a son and daughter. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys running, crafting with her kids, spending time outdoors, and making memories with her family.

Abi is beginning her first year as a teacher’s aide at Calvary Community Preschool. She brings valuable experience working with children and families through Child Protective Services and has a special love for working with preschool-aged children. Abi is excited to support our students as they learn, grow, and build confidence throughout the school year. She is married and enjoys spending time with her husband and their daughter. We are excited to have Abi as part of the Calvary Community Preschool team!
