Adult Sunday School classes are offered at 9:30 and 11 a.m.  Class subjects, format, and duration vary, with some classes based on a video series.  Over the last five years, average attendance has been between 22 and 35.

Women's ministries

Calvary Community Church has a Women's Ministry Board that oversees ministry opportunities for women of high school age and older.  Our mission is to nurture and enable women of our church to use their unique gifts and talents to serve one another in love and bring others to a saving relationship with God.

It follows these Guiding Principles:

  • Christ is the focus of our ministry.
  • Prayer is essential as we seek to be unified in the Spirit at all times.
  • Ministries will be structured to encourage involvement and meet the needs of all women.
  • Programs are open to women of our community in order to draw them to Christ.
  • We are committed to shared leadership and teamwork.
  • Our goal is to help women to grow in their knowledge of Christ.

Women's Ministries offer Women of the Word Bible studies on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, which are attended by about 60-80 women.  The annual Women's Get-Away weekend retreat is attended by 50-60 women.  The J.O.Y. Conference is an inter-church event and draws about 250 women per year.  Other ministry events include Girls' Night Out, Lunches for Four, Spring Tea, Quilt Retreats, Fall Fair, Joyful Journey of Homes, Ornament Exchange, Victorian Christmas, Journey, and Widows' Secret Pal Lunch.

Missionary Circles

Calvary has two active missionary circles.  Bykotas (Be Ye Kind One to Another) is made up of women, like Martha from the Bible, who love to serve others.  Through its approximately 14 active members and others, it serves at weddings, funerals, and church dinners; helps keep up the kitchen; and provides holiday food baskets.

The Dorcas group makes baby blankets, lap robes, and large quilts for people in need.  They work with Community House, Salvation Army, Caring Pregnancy, Hospice, and nursing homes.  They have seven women and one man on their committee.
